Olusegun A. Ogunba is the 11th Dean of the Faculty of Estate Management. He is a Professor of Estate Management at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, holding Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees in Estate Management from the same University. His Ph.D. thesis (on feasibility and viability appraisal) was adjudged by the O.A.U. Postgraduate College as the best in its year (2002).
Professor Ogunba has taught valuation and feasibility and viability studies for over twenty-nine years. He is a prolific researcher and research paper writer with over seventy publications and two major Real Estate text (Principles and practice of Property valuation and Property Feasibility and Viability Studies) to his credit. His valuation/property investment papers have won best paper awards including two International Real Estate Research Symposium best paper awards (Malaysia, 2014) and three African Estate Society Conference best paper awards (in Ghana, 2012, South Africa, 2017 and Ghana, 2022). He is also a successful research supervisor having successfully supervised six PhDs and twenty one masters theses.
He has presented development appraisal papers as a resource person at Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers/Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board. In administration, he was the Head of the departments of Estate Management at the Obafemi Awolowo University (2007-2009 and 2019-2022) and the Covenant University (2006-2007). He has served as external examiner and as NUC/ESVARBON accreditor in several universities.
He is an Associate member of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers and a Registered Estate Surveyor and Valuer and has served in many of their committees. He is currently the Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers Learning Centre.
Prof Ogunba is married to Professor Mrs. Bukola Ogunba of the OAU Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and they have three children. Prof Ogunba is the first OAU Professor to be the son of a former OAU Professor and the first OAU Dean to be the son of a former OAU Dean. His late father, Professor Oyin Ogunba, was Dean of the Faculty of Arts in the 1980s.
